Dropping mags during reloading often chips them (even on gravel) and they don’t take long to break. Placing them back into mag pouches or into a drop pouch is just too slow.
It’s not the mags fault entirely, they were generally not meant to be dropped.
This simple but well designed rubber mag protector will significantly reduce the damage to mags and extend their life.
